Kidlit Class and Spooky Fun This Weekend!

It’s going to be another busy weekend!  Hope to see you at some of these great events:

Text rerads: From Brain to Bookshelf. Maryland Writers Association. October 15-16, 2022. Baltimore Hilton BWI.If you’re attending the Maryland Writers Association 2022 Conference, From Brain to Bookshelf, this weekend, be sure to check out Kidlit Market 101 with me and Meg Eden Kuyatt!  We’ll cover age categories, genres, and best practices for submission, in addition to breaking down the differences between large and small publishers, educational markets, and book packagers. Learn how to focus your craft to fit your publishing goals, when you do and don’t need an agent, and the resources you need to know to get your kidlit career going. Find out more about the conference here.

A picture of Edgar Allan Poe raising a glass appears on a tombstone, next to a raven. Text reads: A Toast Among Ghosts.

Deborah Schaumberg and I will be among the local authors and vendors at this year’s A Toast Among Ghosts, which benefits Baltimore County Public Library. Join us on Saturday, October 15, 7 p.m.-10 p.m. and enjoy a spooky night of fun, food and beer in a historic cemetery at the Reisterstown Branch. Enjoy live music from local bands, beer, wine, local authors and vendors, portrayals of historic Reisterstown residents, ghost stories around a fire pit and guided tours through the moonlit historic Reisterstown Community Cemetery (est. 1764). You might even meet Poe himself!  Purchase your tickets now – they are not available at the door and this event is expected to sell out!
